The Cons on War in Iraq by Chase Magdaleno December 20, 2006

Filed under: Around the World, Current Events — chrisprice1955 @ 8:09 am

The War in Iraq is something I do not believe in. Many people do believe the same thing I do about this war. Here are my reasons why I do not support the War in Iraq .

· The War in Iraq is not cheap and we all know that, but do you know that we have spent 315 billion dollars at since September 2003. Three hundred and fifteen dollars is a lot of money that could have been spent in a better way. We could have used this money to improve our economy and could have helped other countries, but no, we had to spend it on a war. Bush said that there were weapons of mass destruction in 2003 and it’s been three years and we have not found any. This money has been wasted and could have been spent for a better cause in my opinion.

· President Bush said we went to war with Iraq because we had to stop terrorism and free the nation from all its horrors. Yes, we want to stop terrorism and help Iraq become a free country, but also did we go to war with Iraq for oil? Many people believe that one reason why we went to war with Iraq is because of oil and I support that. Our country is running low on oil and this is our gas prices and shot up. Is President Bush taking advantage of this corrupt country? Is he trying to steal oil from them? Is he using this war as a reason to gain power in the Middle East ? We do not know the truth, but I believe strongly that we are not in Iraq only to stop terrorism. Another reason why we went to war with Iraq is that President Bush believes that terrorist there have weapons of mass destruction. Weapons of mass destruction is something we do not want terrorist to have and this is a good reason why we should go to war with Iraq, but we have been in Iraq for three years and we have not found anything. We have spent three years and 315 billion dollars trying to find W.M.D and we have not succeeded. I think that we should bring all our troops back home.

· Everyone knows that people die in war, but they die for a purpose and the War in Iraq does not have one. There haves been a maximum of 55,048 deaths in this war. Yes, there has been a lot more casualties in our pervious wars, but this is a war that we could have avoided. Are 55,048 deaths worth the effort to stop terrorism? We will never stop terrorism in the Middle East . I believe that we should stop this war and bring all our troops home before the death rate increases.

chase, your paper is okay, but all the oil and W.M.D. bull**** that democrats say is the only reason were at war and that oil is the only reason that Bush is putting in so much money toward the war is Horse****. so rather than thinking about all the democrat and republican debates think about the men and women in uniform that are fighting so you can have your “opinion” on the war in iraq.

  2. Forest Allen Says:

Well written, Chase. The into could have been a little smoother, but the paper was very diliberate and to the point.

Yes, Iraq war is very unpopular, and isn’t it funny how we invaded Iraq because they where only thought to hold W.M.Ds, but no PROOF has ever been discovered-(And I belive never will).

While over in North Korea (Another sworn enemy of America), they acually SAY they have them, potentially have the tecnology to make them, and was so bold as to have a so have a so called ‘nuclear test’.

Want to know the difference between Iraq and North Korea? Oil. Iraq is filled with it- and valuble natural resorces. North Korea doesn’t have any large natural resorces. Funny Ain’t it?

  3. Amanda Dixon Says:

I agree that people die for a cause in war but they have no purpose to die in Iraq. Good article.

  4. JP Zimmerman Says:

Hey Chase, this is a great article. I don’t think anyone could have said it better. You set up your blog perfectly by starting out talking about the crisis and then adding reasons to support your opinion on the situation. Personally, I myself do not think the war is serving us any purpose either. Those 315 billion could probably have helped us with our National Debt which i think is around $8.6 trillion and increasing according to this website http://www.brillig.com/debt_clock/ But yes, i totally agree with your reasoning on why there should be no war in Iraq and why we should bring everyone back.

  5. Darren Fitch Says:

You think we could have spent money for a better cause? Well if one of your family members died in 9/11 then I think you would have a diffrent opinion. I’ll agree thats alot of money. Bush is doing he right thing. So you think that we should have done nothing, and not go to war just because of money? If it was me the entire country would be under water because I would just nuke the crap out of them. See how they like it when someone comes into your house and puses you around.

  6. Jenessa Villegas Says:

You have a good point here. Did you go to Iraq for oil or to stop terrorism. I believe that President Bush should just bring home all the troops and if Iraq doesn’t want to be a free nation and live a better life then too bad. That’s their fault not ours. We tried to help them but they didn’t want to accept it. Good Article!!

  7. Aurielle Weiss Says:

I agree, that i do not believe in this war. It is just costing our country more money and lots of INNOCENT people are losing thier lives. It is also causing heartache for the soldiers friends and family. Great job focusing on the war.

  8. i’m an Iraqi war vet and i don’t agree with darren fitch or brandon carroll. brandon carroll is forgetting that defending freedom is also defending free speech… he shouldn’t try to suppress anyone’s opinion. darren fitch’s mentality is exactly like the terrorists’; he feels a justifiable wrong from a small group of people and thinks that’s a good enough reason to kill millions.

  9. ALSO; proofread. errors distract from your point. and to actually comment on your subject matter, here are a few facts:

    1. it was determined by the 911 commission that there was no conclusive evidence that terrorism existed in Iraq prior to the war; there is also no evidence that WMD’s were in Iraq after 1991.

    2. 315 billion is enough money to eliminate almost all 3rd world debt.

    3. north korea and iran both have W.M.D.’s and known, internationally recognized ties to terrorism, and had them before 911.

  10. ramses Says:

believe me when i say that bush truly went for a fact to get his oil so he can make daddy proud and all dat dough gone people dead no uswe of going to Iraq no more that and much more

  11. Darren Fitch (The UK One) Says:

Your givvinf me a bad name Your going to h\ave to stop this

  12. *Brooke Duarte* Says:

I have to say i agree with u i do not agree aswell.
Also i agree with you with the troops coming home they should.I liked your blog, i think its very intresting.=]

  13. tom ribaudo Says:

I completely agree with everything you have said. This war is just for Bush. The rest of the country disagrees with him, and yet he wont quit. We need to get out of there as soon as possible before everything is messed up.
