Colbie Caillat, a Los Angeles based vocalist, is a singer songwriter with songs based on her personal experiences. Her music is mostly acoustic based but she also picks up from classical folk, jazz and pop. She started singing at the age of eleven and got a vocal coach soon after when her parents saw she had potential. That was also when she first realized she wanted to sing. Her inspiration was Lauryn Hill on Sister Act 2. She is now in the process of recording her first CD and, according to her, it will be out in a couple of months. Her music is heard mostly on Myspace. Colbie gets 16,000 plays a day and that puts her to number one in unsigned for folk and soul. The fact that she has not yet put out a CD doesn’t mean she isn’t talented. In fact, her songs on Myspace are worth listening to. If those songs are just a preview of what will be on her CD then her actual CD is guaranteed to blow everyone’s mind away.
She is a very diverse artist. Every one of her song is different. She has a reggae song, an R&B song and a pop one. She has also used to sing the techno music for the runway shows for St. John clothing line.
Cobie Caillat has three big shows coming up in December. The first will be on December 18 at the House of Blues, Los Angeles. On December 19 she will play at Temple Bar with Chris Pierce and her last she for December will be in New York City, New York on December 30 at The Living Room.

Once again Myspace has proved to be a better market to advertise a product, and this case an artist. As a singer I enjoy hearing how people make it and get popular. great article
