On February 10 at approximately 10:02 am at the Tustin Home Depot an employee was shot after trying to stop a robbery. Home Depot has offered a reward of up to $100,000 for information to leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the death. The night crew, which takes care of stocking and readying the store for the next day, usually finishes work at 6 a.m. Egan was working late when the shooting occurred he was shot as he came to the aid of the employee being robbed. The suspect, disguised as a painter, was in the process of robbing a cashier when the night operations manage confronted the suspect, who opened fire. The suspect also might have been wearing a hard hemet and some sort of mask. Without provocation, the gunman turned and shot the employee once in the torso, at least one time, and continued on with the robbery, exiting out in the front to a waiting getaway car driven by a second suspect dressed in possibly a similar disguise. The minivan was last seen traveling east on El Camino Real toward Jamboree Road. I think that this is such a tragic thing to have happened to someone. Although in my opinion the best thing you can do during a robbery is corporate this man was trying to do the right thing. I hope all is going well with his family, and I hope something like this never happens again.

i agree with you, it is terrible that someone could do that. I also feel very sorry for that family, and I hope everything works out ok.
Yes this is a very sad story, i cant believe that someone would actually shoot the home depot manager in a nice quiet town like tustin, especially in the morning.
This is a story that one cannot help but feel sorrow for. To hurt and innocent bystandered unprovoked makes me sick. good informitive article, hopefuly this man will be brought to justice soon,
yes, it a horrible thing that this happened and i hope that the shooter and the get away driver get caught and get the sentenceing they deserve.
Tragic, like you said. Informative. I’m sorry that this man got shot. Like you said, he probably should just have done what the guy said.
