Medical Marijuana for AIDS Patients by Michelle Duong February 21, 2007

Since most AIDS patients suffer from a condition called neuropathy, a painful burning numbness that can strike the feet and hands, a group conducted a research to look for a drug that can ease the pain.
In this research, fifty men smoked marijuana three times a day, five times a week. Of the fifty men, twenty-five men smoked the full strength marijuana and the other twenty-five smoke a weakened version of the drug. Those that smoked the full strength version of the drug showed a thirty-four percent reduction in pain. Along with smoking the drug, there was a minor side effect the patient did get high. Though they were high, their level of highness did not affect the patients in motor tasks or any other errands. Just to make sure that the patient does not smoke so much and exceed the proper level of highness, some researchers suggested that they turn the drug into a pill.
Even though these researches show a great improvement in the patients’ foot, some are still scared to smoke the drug. They fear that by smoking the marijuana, the patient may develop lung cancer. Researchers said that the patients did not need to worry about that because studies show that the patients actually have a lower risk of lung cancer than other.
So should AIDS patients begin smoking marijuana to help ease the burning numbness in their foot and hands?

i think that AIDS pateints should be able to do whatever they want. if they need to smoke marijuana let them smoke, if they will feel better for the time being, thats all that matters.

  2. Branden Quomri Says:

yes, i think that AIDS patients should be able to smoke medical marijuana to help the pain. They tested the marijuana on the men, and it didn’t effect there ablity to complete everyday tasks.

I believe that if this drug is going to make a breakthough in pain relief, it is a good idea. People should not suffer through chronic pain dissorders, and if this is going to help that cause then i am for it.

  4. mikey baratta Says:

yes. absolutely yes. i think that if AIDS patients are given the chance to use marijuana for a form of treatment to ease their pains, then they should take that form of medication. its a much more healthy way to kill pain than by taking a cabinet full of synthetic pills such as morphine.

  5. Kayla Says:

I think that AIDS patients should do whatever to lessen their pains, i guess even if that means smoking marijuana. If it works, hey why not give it a shot? good article.

I think that AIDS patients should smoke weed if it decreases their pain and suffering. They should be able to have a drug to ease the pain, but only to relieve the pain.

I believe its a pretty good idea. Even though the side effects can be bad, its still a good way to keep people freed from pain that they shouldnt have to live through for the rest of their lives.

i think they should give weed, uh, i mean “medical marijuana” to patients, if it helps them in their time of sickness, then they should get it
